About Me
I’m Stephanie – I’m an ex-Glasgow School of Art graduate, former design lecturer and after many years working in educational management, I am now retired with time to pursue creative activities again and set up this little business.
I love experimenting and creating. I’m constantly inspired to make new things, and this is further enhanced through my love of travel. I often buy new materials on these trips – from beads in Vietnam to buttons in Krakow. My bags are called after places that inspired them, where I was when they were made or where I may have picked up some of the materials. I have no interest in mass production and therefore buying small quantities suits my business model and keeps everything unique.

Selling my bags is a new enterprise for me and I'm hoping sales will help fund my love of buying materials and ease my storage issue at home as my bag creations take over!

Why Jeccart?

The name is a blend of my seven grandchildren’s initials – they keep me inspired, occupied and happy.
Like them, every one of my bags has a unique character, is special and is completely individual. I would like my bags to bring just a little bit of their joy to the owner. And just like them, my bags will keep on developing and changing over time.

My Materials
I enjoy experimenting and mixing materials, often in an unexpected way, mostly using natural or recycled yarns.

I like using variegated wool giving random mixes of colours and I will crochet it together with cotton cords or raffia. I often find my wool in charity shops - another reason why my bags can only ever be 'one-offs!'

One of my more unusual materials is 'plarn' (cut up plastic bags). I find it works better mixed with raffia for structure. This is niche work since old plastic bags are hard to source and its slower to crochet and harder on the wrists. I love the look and feel of it though, its lightweight and there is an interesting mix of colours.

Several of my bags include leather flaps, straps or details
